Welcome to the South Surrey Youth Football League...Our mission is to provide the best possible conditions for the continual growth and development of young player’s skills and abilities within a safe and positive framework of healthy competition that supports and maintains the highest standards of

sportsmanship within the game.

ABOUT US

Football is a wonderful game from which young people can obtain huge enjoyment whilst developing their physical fitness and skills, their friendships, their sense of worth both as individuals and as members of a team and their sense of awareness and pride in their achievements.

SSYFL was created in order to provide clubs and their players with a competitive league environment that operates in the very best interests of every player. We place the welfare and development of the player at the centre of our planning and operations, following FA best practice for each age group. We will give priority to ‘time on the ball’, supporting and encouraging coaching opportunities, avoiding ‘over playing’ and making the league as fully inclusive as possible.

We will promote an atmosphere of consistent and positive support and encouragement for all players and work to eliminate any practices that are contrary to good sportsmanship or giving precedence to adult ambition over the individual or wider interests of the players.

The SSYFL was formed in
2010, with the aim of providing
youth football clubs and their
players in South Surrey with a
competitive league environment that operates in the very best interests of every player.

We place the welfare and development of the player at the centre of our planning and operations. We give priority to ‘time on the ball’, supporting and encouraging coaching opportunities, avoiding ‘over playing’ and making the league as fully inclusive as possible. We promote an atmosphere of consistent and positive support and encouragement for all players and work to eliminate any practices that are contrary to good sportsmanship or giving precedence to adult ambition over the individual or wider interests of the players.

We aim to be at the forefront of the movement towards a more progressive playing environment. This was reflected in the provision of from the outset of 9v9 football for age groups under 11 to under 13. For the 2012/13 season, we have introduced a ‘champions league’ competition format for some of the age groups in order to further enhance player involvement and enjoyment throughout the season.

In this our third year, we have 25 member clubs entering 84 teams with over 1000 boys and girls playing mini-soccer and 9v9 football across every age group from under 8s to under 13s..
